To support Tesla commands it looks like I need to add a step to the Tesla login flow that gets you to install a virtual key in your car that acknowledges you're ok with Sidecar being able to initiate commands remotely. I need someone with a Tesla account to verify that I'm setting the flow up correctly though. Anyone with a Tesla, if you can visit the following page, follow the instructions, and report the results back here, that would be super helpful!

https://www.tesla.com/_ak/tesla-authent ... idecar.app

Documentation context: https://developer.tesla.com/docs/fleet- ... e-commands

Statistics: Posted by jeff — Fri Sep 27, 2024 4:31 am

The flow for syncing account tokens to the watch is a bit clunky due to a bug in Tesla's auth implementation on the watch (I'm in contact with them about this but it hasn't been resolved yet).

I'm writing up a post on the flow right now, but a quick summary:

Add your Tesla account in Sidecar on your iPhone via Settings > Vehicles & accounts > Tesla.

Once authenticated (and confirmed that you're pulling data as expected), go to Settings > Vehicle & accounts and tap your tesla account.

On this page you need to tap the "Create a companion token" button. You will need to log in again in order to generate a new token that will be used by your watch.

Once you've successfully logged in, your account page should show "Companion token is ready to transfer".

Go back to the Settings > Vehicle & accounts page on your iPhone; leave this page open.

On your watch, open Sidecar.

Tap the settings gear > Vehicles & accounts

Back on your iPhone, you should see the "Synchronize accounts to your watch" button activate. Tap it.

Your Tesla token should transfer to your Apple watch after 10-15 seconds.

Statistics: Posted by jeff — Thu Sep 26, 2024 4:24 am
